Lucy Langlas - “Thunder Line” Single Release 11.5.21

Lucy Langlas Shares New Single “Thunder Line”, from Upcoming Album

”My upcoming album features some amazing contributing musicians, like drummer Elizabeth Goodfellow, who’s played with Iron and Wine, Boy Genius and various other bands, and the exquisite vocals of Shannon Lay on one folk track. I’ve been aiming to work with more of the great community of musicians that live in Los Angeles on this project. This new track “Thunder Line” may be hard to place in a really specific genre, but it’s a good representation of my writing. I recorded it live and then layered organs, electric guitar swells and percussion. Mixed by the wonderful Beatriz Artola.”

Langlas is a songwriter from Montana, based in California. Her songs blend elements of indie and folk with a uniquely poetic storytelling approach.  Recently she's contributed her music to various projects, including a compilation release, featuring artists as diverse as Thurston Moore and Hollow Coves.

Thunder Line (lyrics)

(for Dean Moriarty)

mind over matter - will you come around

careful what you’re after

it’s bringing me - bringing me down

raising up that politic - heavy, heated sound

careful what you’re after, it’s bringing me, bringing me down

we talked through the night, as though in a dream

everything I wanted - I needed you to see

shake it down now - don’t rush

keep holding the line

we are after the meaning

we are keepers of the time

running in the thunder

rolling down the thunder line

running in the thunder

rolling down the thunder line

mind over matter - raising up the sound

I’m begging you to say more

I want to hear what you’ve found

do you think it’s entertainment - the way it goes around

careful what you’re aiming - keeping an ear to the ground

we are crossing the bridges, we are journeying into night

everything you’re talking - is coming out all right

break it down now - and trust

that all will be well

we are after the feeling

when you find it you can tell

running in the thunder

rolling down the thunder line

running in the thunder

rolling down the thunder line

running in the thunder

rolling down the thunder line

(keep talking)

running in the thunder

rolling down the thunder line
